Stressmeters
Stressmeters are designed to measure stress changes in various types of rock and are installed inside boreholes. The stressmeter consists of a high strength steel cell wedged tightly across the inside of a borehole provided with one or multiple strain gauges. Any change in rock stress causes a related change in the instrument which can be read by a vibrating wire readout.
