GKM invited at the ICMM engagement session in Santiago, Chile

GKM Consultants was proud to be invited at the ICMM engagement session in Santiago.
The Church of England Pensions Board and the Council on Ethics of the Swedish National Pension Funds are asking extractive mining companies to disclose details of their tailings storage facilities. “GKM Consultants is supportive of greater transparency on this important issue and was happy to respond to ICMM’s invitation.” says Melanie Boudreau, Business Strategist at GKM Consultants.
ICMM was looking to identify experts who can help mining companies to strengthen the monitoring and surveillance of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs). GKM Consultants was invited to participate in an ICMM engagement session taking place alongside of the Tailings 2019 – The Sixth International Seminar on Tailings Management in Santiago, Chile.
GKM Consultants intends to remain the benchmark in geotechnical and structural instrumentation by providing innovative and integrated monitoring solutions. Also, GKM Consultants’ R&D works with various universities on specific projects. GKM Consultants also develops its own monitoring solutions notably, the TEMS, the TDRi and the LS systems that can be implemented in different tailings facilities.
GKM Consultants have been at the forefront of creating custom IoT-enabled (internet of things) geotechnical monitoring program. “While the IoT has become an essential component of the industry 4.0 revolution in manufacturing and other industries, development in the mining has been slower to pick up due to the high cost of connecting instruments with cables over long distances in harsh conditions in and around mines.” says Stephane-Eric Thivierge, President, GKM Consultants.
