The Keeyask project is located in northern Manitoba approximately 725 km north of Winnipeg on the lower Nelson River. This major renewable energy project is a partnership between Manitoba Hydro and four Manitoba First Nations, including the Cree Nation of Tataskweyak and Fox Lake and the War Lake and York Factory First Nations. The Keeyask dam will meet this need. When the plant is completed in 2021, it will add approximately 440 MW of renewable energy.
GKM Consultants have been retained to assist Manitoba Hydro's instrumentation team. The objective is to instrument the 23 kilometers of dikes located to the north and south of the reservoir. The data will be used during dam impoundment as well as for long-term and safe monitoring of operations.
