Instrumentation and monitoring of bridge spans | Jacques-Cartier and Champlain Bridges

JACQUES CARTIER AND CHAMPLAIN BRIDGES INCORPORATED (JCCBI)
GKM Consultants had the honor to be part of a pilot project with the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) for the instrumentation of three spans. A long-term monitoring system was designed and installed during 2019. This system includes Jewell instruments high-accuracy inclinometers, BDI accelerometers to follow the spans’ vibration modes and Geokon extensometers to measure deformations.
This two-year project will provide the necessary data to establish the relevance of installing a monitoring system across the entire structure. The data is also made available to researchers at Polytechnique de Montréal to conduct cutting-edge analysis.
