Since 2013 GKM has been working with Cabot Corporation at the Tanco mine site to provide engineering instrumentation to monitor geotechnical parameters in their below ground operations. Equipment supplied has included potentiometer based SMART cable bolts and SMART multipoint extensometers for monitoring underground movements within their stabilization program as well as vibrating wire concrete embedment strain gages and borehole stressmeters for monitoring strain developments in concrete support structures and stress changes within their rock pillars respectively.
In Cabot’s desire to automatize their data collection and information processing, GKM has provided an online visualization software as well as our knowledge in systems commissioning to integrate their existing instrumentation and develop the necessary protocols for adding future sensors to the network.
